Today's hike was supposed to be a 6.2 mile trek to the peak of Mount Kearsage. The weather was beautiful: warm (70s), overcast, and no bugs. Lulled by summer-like conditions we opted to not bring the gaiters and crampons... which we discovered afterwords were required to climb the last section to the peak. We ended-up having to cut the trip short once we hit the snow and ice, but we still had some nice views and a little play time in the spring run-off creeks along the ledges. In all it was a 5 mile day which still left us satisfied, plenty tired, and hungry for Thai food when we arrived home.

hiking in T-shirts and water purifier questions

Warm weather hiking in April with wonderful views. I can see a return trip planned to reach the summit. I've been looking into two water purifying systems - any opinions about them? http://yourwatermatters.com/products/purifiers/steripen-handheld/ http://yourwatermatters.com/products/purifiers/first-need-travel-purifier/
